Early Christmas

We piled into the van, stopped at McDonald's then headed four hours southwest to Silver Dollar City this past Friday afternoon. We stopped in Springfield to pick up David's aging parents. It was really the perfect evening to celebrate the season while tromping around SDC with family. We enjoyed a beautiful display of Christmas lights, a performing Christmas tree, Christmas music, homely quartets, hot chocolate and nostalgic Christmas decor at every turn. We crashed back in Springfield for the night then woke to enjoy a "Christmas morning" exchanging gifts with Grandma and Grandpa and eating their home cooked goodies - that's always fun! The only disappointment about our time was that we had to head back to Columbia a little earlier then planned because of the snow.

One of the gifts they gave us is an 8-foot air-blown inflatable snowman. The boys couldn't wait until tomorrow to put it out in the yard, so we blew it up in the house and spent the evening with an 8-foot Frosty in our living room. While he was a rather pleasant guest, tomorrow he'll be out the front door nonetheless. He can oversee tomorrow's sledding activities.

I feel all warm and fuzzy, as if Christmas is already here...

By the way, Grandma VanDyke, Aaron said that his favorite thing about the weekend was... the Irish dancing! Maybe the lad does have, as you say, a wee bit o' the Irish in 'im!

I do believe he does! Also you might have put a "ha ha" behind the aging parents part!
And glad to see the boys are enjoying all 8ft of the snowman ~ thats what Grandma and Grandpas are for.
It was very fun even if cut short.

I am so glad that you got an 8 ft snowman. We had been debating on whether it was worth making Sophie's Christmas. Now we don't have to! I love the pictures, Casey. Merry early Christmas!
