There Goes September

Or, more accurately, there goes a whole year. We celebrated Henri's first birthday this past month and it's just shocking that it's been a year already since he entered our world. Just look at this gorgeous one year old!

Sometimes it seems that I'm still trying to process the dramatic events surrounding his arrival. This is what he looked like at my first glimpse of him just a year ago. And it really was just a glimpse, as they wheeled me by his bed in the Intensive Care Nursery. No touching him, no holding him... It seemed forever before he was in my arms, and I still revel in holding him close. A year later, I feel a mix of emotions still, but predominantly just gratefulness for him, for his incredible daddy and big brothers, for those who held us close and supported us during that time. Thank you, again, and always.

He's as normal a one year old as a one year old can be. Well, to be honest, he's actually quite exceptional. He talks, he walks, he sleeps, he plays, he eats, he fusses, he demands, he laughs, he shrieks, he crawls, he rides along, he tries, and he ALWAYS wants in on the action.

His favorite person, outside those of us who live in his house, is by far his Aunt Laurie Jo. His best cuddles are always reserved for her. I can't think of a better person to be his favorite.

If you'll look, you'll see this picture captures quite a bit of who he is. My sweet baby boy. Sigh.

He's my favorite person living outisde my house, too. A remarkable twelve months, and I look forward to sharing countless more as the awesome aunt...with occasional snuggles.

Amazing pictures and amazing what can change in only a year! It is so crazy to think about how little he was. Cheers to healthy baby boys!
